Our fuel gauge has been inaccurate since we bought the car which has resulted in running out of gas! Even with a full tank, the gauge would only read just over half full. Resetting the odometer and tracking mileage was our short term fix.
Our research suggested the Fuel Sending unit may be worn out. We bought a new one and began our install. What we learned was that the routing of the plumbing may have actually been the issue!
Install was straight forward with the location at the base of the windshield and under the battery.
The routing of the above two lines (feed and return) was critical to prevent the float from getting blocked. We found this out the hard way and had to do the install twice! Needless to say the Porsche TSB makes the routing much clearer. See below.
