ClearBra on cars have become very popular in these last 20yrs. I worked on this product back in my 3M Automotive days in the early 90s. It has advanced considerably since those days to the point that cars are being 100% covered. Though this film has great advantages, it is not a permanent solution. If you wait too long to remove it, it will start to yellow and/or crack, making removal very slow and tedious. And in some cases, it will pull the paint that is underneath! This image above shows an Elise* that lives in FL under a carport. The clearbra adhesive has discolored worse than anything we have ever seen!
My BrandXTR guys are a 3M Preferred Installer with the right tools to remove old clearbra. Dave demonstrated his technique on this Elise with yellowed clearbra. The equipment that he used:
- Heat gun
- Plastic Razor Scraper
- Rapid Remover Adhesive remover
- Rags
- Cold drink
- Good music
First heat up the film.

Scrape the film off in sections with the plastic razor scraper.

Apply the adhesiver remover

Scrape adhesive off using the plastic scraper.

* We see no point in applying clearbra to the rear clam in this location. It does not see enough stone damage to justify installing it here.
Clean up with some citrus cleaner or other mild cleaning solution.
