111CS Build: New Wheels

111CS Build: New Wheels

We all love cool wheels.  Our focus on high quality wheels for the 111 platform has really emphasized light weight while balancing the need for strength.  Our ETHOS, RS168 and newer RS343 have been class leading solutions.  Each have their advantages and disadvantages.  We decided to get a new set for this build since it can support wider rear wheels with its flares.  The car has had our ETHOS in a 17x9 in the past.  We felt this unique and special build deserved some new wheels!  We've christen them: UNICOs.

These new forged wheels come from a new supplier.  We decided to test out a set in anticipation of offering new products from them.  They offer fitments that can work for many cars: Elise/Exige, Evora, Emira, Porsche and Corvette applications.

We specified 16x7ET25 and 17x9ET20.  The weights of these wheels is good, not RS343-light, but still very acceptable.  The fronts are 14lbs and the rears came in at 17.35lbs.  They are hub centric so fit correctly with no additional rings/spacers required.

One styling tweak that I had made to the UNIICOs is that the front wheels have one less spoke than the rears.  A small design change that pays homage to the Drakan and 996RR builds - both of which offer wheels that are not exact matches.  I specified white gold finish which really looks cool.
